I am so happy for Jules! That is scary about the flight back being maskless for so many people. Here in Australia, masks are still mandatory on planes and public transport... if people actually follow the rules. My mum just flew to Tasmania and said they were enforcing mask wearing on the flight down, so that's good. I haven't travelled anywhere in so long. Even before COVID, it has been several years because I couldn't bring myself to leave Dim Sim even for a night. She passed during COVID. So since her passing, I have spent two nights away about a year ago up at the Sunshine Coast (where I drove). That's it! I am dreaming of future trips to places, but I can't imaging bringing myself to do it for a long time.
Oh, Susan, I hope your mum's travel was lovely (and masked!) and I hope you carve out a little time for just a wee bit of future trip planning...at least day-dreaming-wise!....You deserve it!
But, hear, hear, it's stressful to even think about flying in this maddening new world.
I am already wrecked thinking about leaving our new boys for a few nights this summer for a dear friend's wedding! <3
My mum made it back safe and sound! Her and my dad are going up the coast for a week soon (house to myself, yay!), but they are driving their own car. I am definitely day dreaming about trips. I really want to visit Jojo in Scotland and hug her sheep. I want to go back to Japan (I am trying to learn the language... slowly). And of course I have my US friends to visit! I had always planned that after Dim Sim passed, I was going to get on the first plane I could to Seattle and cry my heart out over there. But she passed in 2020, so that was a huge no go. I will also be happy for the day I can visit my friends again in Sydney and Melbourne.

Indeed, life after our precious cats leaving us + covid + so much else going on is....changing things. Indeed.
I lol’d at the lighting situation in airport restrooms! I’ve started putting on sunglasses before I go in, I look much better that way.
