I can relate! I'm always declaring things and bringing them back home. I just got back from Aotearoa and brought back as much as I could internationally. What a joy to read about your travels!

Ahhh, this makes me smile. My very first trip to the US I flew into San Francisco and made a beeline for the Ferry Terminal. I was agog at all those beautiful fresh strawberries and other produce there! I also visited Rainbow Grocery. This was way back in 2011 (how is it more than ten years?), so things will be very different now. It is very illegal in Australia to bring in any fresh produce from overseas (or even interstate!), but on all my US trips I became a master at bringing back all sorts of vegan meats, cheeses, chocolate (so many Justin's Dark Chocolate peanut butter cups... still my favourite thing but sadly not available in Australia), snacks... so much more! Baked goods don't hold up well to the epic long haul flights, unless I bought them to eat on the plane, but I I would often also bring them home on shorter flights from Sydney or Melbourne. Always remember the day I thought my luggage was lost on a flight home from Melbourne (thankfully it wasn't, it was just delayed) and I just stared at the poor baggage claim person saying 'but my bag has pastries in it...' as I imagined them all going to heck if I couldn't get my bag back for ages. Good times! Fond memories!
