Wonderful collection of stories and recipes! I turn to lentils often, like a stew with an onion and tomato aderezo. Drizzled with olive oil, the flavors evoke the first meals my mom and grandmother cooked for me.

Such delicious and delightful stories! Plus, look at us both getting political in our stories this week! Reproductive freedom is a human right and I can't imagine how it must feel at the moment. One of the best recipes from my childhood is Lo Mai Gai, a Hong Kong sticky rice dish that I veganised this week. Wishing you well this spring! <3

The defining dish of my childhood was Tuna Glug, a microwave casserole my mum made with rice, cream of mushrooms soup, creamed corn, peas, tuna, tomato, and peas. I recreated it vegan style for VeganMoFo one year.

All your beautiful cards sound so comforting and homey.

Please tell me more about this vegetable bottom in the ground thing... do you just plant it straight in some soil? Fully buried?

Susan,

1) Holy moly, that holds my interest ! ! What a concoction and time warp all in one, for sure.

2) <3 the time is right for comforting, indeed.

3) Yes, yes, yes! Cut off the bottom of say, a big thing of bok choy or celery, just as you likely would anyway to prepare it for snacks or dinner or whatever, and take that plant butt, cut side up, put in soil, cover with a couple of inches or so of more dirt, and water in a bucket or garden bed. Granted, we have A LOT of sun going on right now....and my "new" (old) three have already re-sprouted in mere days : )
