This is such a fun piece!! Deeply impressed. My anti-snob take is that I'm more into WooHoo than Wild Scoops in terms of Anchorage ice cream.... whoops
I love ice cream in cold weather! When it is hot I want fruity frozen things. When it is cold I want creamy frozen things. Though we are so opposite in what we can and can't eat. I have a coconut fat intolerance and almost every single vegan ice cream around here is coconut based. I long for the days of So Delicious cashew or So Delicous oat or just give me some soy ice cream, please!
I do make my own ice cream! And I tend to substitute in a thickened plant cream for coconut milk so I can make something I can actually eat without wanting to die. (I won't die, I'll just feel like I am am dying and wish I was dead....)
But I love ice cream so much! I miss the snickerdoodle flavour of So Delicious. My basic fave flavour though is always strawberry. I love strawberry everything. I made a beautiful ginger ice cream over Christmas though that was fantastic. I am currently writing a story about ice cream, and having a lot of fun coming up with flavours for it (it is fiction, but giving me lots of real life ideas).
Tragically our Brisbane winter is almost ending, and it is going to be 30dC next week at the end of winter, not even spring. Take me somewhere cold please!
Susan! It is so beautiful to read these passionate thoughts on ice cream. I would love to read your ice cream story one day, for the record!! Oat (or cashew, it's cool!) + ginger + strawberry sounds dreamy !!!! Sending you snowy vibes while I'm still in winter mode, myself <3<3<3
